Your mission

  • The key objective of the role is to safeguard the business perspective – both the eCommerce strategies (Direct & B2B) as well as the market intel and perspectives - is being covered within the identified portfolio projects.
  • Translate eCommerce strategy into a value-driven roadmap for its responsible eCommerce area in collaboration with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure that planned value is delivered with roadmap initiatives. 

Your day-to-day job

Key responsibilities:

  • Understands the business dynamics from Miele; household appliance industry, market needs, stakeholder needs, competitive environment, internal Miele insights and data. Synthetizes market trends, developments and insights from various eCommerce teams and stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities, or initiate further customer research in alignment with relevant team leads.
  • Supports and facilitates, together with key stakeholders, the translation of eCom strategy into clear, actionable long-term tactics.
  • Leads the creation of a vision and roadmap for their responsible business and platform area together with the Product Owner, Subject Matter Experts and an Engineer, identifying opportunities.   Ensures the vision and roadmap are in line with the business strategy (both Direct and B2B), focusing on portfolio-level topics, and iterated in line with changing environment and business priorities.
  • Aligns opportunities with portfolio group prior to creating detailed business cases. Leads the creation of the value proposition of an initiative and creates very solid business cases, including a hypothesis backed by research and data, strategic fit, business requirements, the financial impact & ROI of an initiative. Works together with subject matter experts to get the needed data & perspective. Brings business case back to portfolio for alignment and further prioritization.
  • Accountable for value realization of assigned portfolio initiatives, to which end the Portfolio Development Manager is involved in the critical stages of development. The role of Portfolio Development Manager (PDM) is to ensure that deliverables address the business needs and goals of the initiative.
  • Creates a long-term ecommerce roadmap based on stakeholder and customer needs and identified opportunities, in alignment with business management capabilities in other teams, and with portfolio manager. Manages and iterates on the roadmap.

What success will look like in two years:

  • eCommerce has a common vision for target state and is executing towards a common value-driven roadmap with an aligned strategy.

  • The roadmap is not static, but iterates on an ongoing basis in response to delivered value, new opportunities, innovations and needs of the market & Miele.

  • Strategy and roadmap are based on comprehensive, reliable data and insights from various sources & ensures customer and business needs are considered and well balanced.

  • Portfolio Development Manager has a clear view on the value being delivered in their responsible area, and the value meets or exceeds eCommerce goals and forecast.

  • The role collaborates closely & transparently with other teams and departments, avoiding silos.

Key performance measures for position:

  • Value bridge contribution of owned scope.
  • Predictability of value delivery of business cases.
  • Project value KPI achievement.
  • Positive evaluation of the delivered business value by key stakeholders (D2C/B2B cluster roles in the markets).

We are looking for

Competencies/Skills for position:

  • Preferably University degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or related field.
  •  7+ Years experience in eCommerce business development, portfolio development or product manafement  or similar role with transferrable skills.
  • Analysis skills to understand and interpret research and data and turn it into actionable insights.
  • Financial affinity to build strong, data-driven and value based business cases.
  • Business mindset.
  • Critical thinking and conceptualization skills to sort dispatate volumes of information & derive actionable insights and next steps.
  • Requirement definition.
  • Strong Informal leadership  and stakeholder management capability.
  • Strong affinity with ecommerce domain and product development.
  • Long term planning capabilities.
